Penn State still unanimous No. 1, Minnesota back to No. 2 after weekend win at Iowa
While there were no new entries into the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Division I Coaches Poll released on Tuesday, there continued to be movement inside the top ten.
Penn State (11-0) remained No. 1, picking up all 10 first-place votes. Minnesota (8-1) moved back into the No. 2 spot after picking up a 19-15 win over Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Saturday. Iowa (11-2) fell one spot to No. 3, while Cornell (7-0), which was third last week, dropped one spot to No. 4 as Minnesota leap-frogged back over the Big Red.
Northern Iowa (7-0) stayed at No. 5 and had a solid weekend win over Missouri, which fell three spots to No. 10. Oklahoma (8-1) remained at No. 6, while Pittsburgh (10-1) moved up a spot to No. 7, Nebraska (10-1) moved up to No. 8, jumping over Oklahoma State (5-4), which stayed to No. 9 after beating Iowa State 29-3 over the weekend.
Chattanooga moved into the top 20 for the first time this season. The Mocs are the lone team from the Southern Conference in this week’s rankings. Oregon State moved up two spots after a solid 28-10 win over then No. 20 Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks dropped three spots to No. 23.
North Dakota State is up to No. 21, the highest in the program’s history as a Division I school.
